In July 2015, Bishop Gregory V. Palmer invited our congregation to participate in the 2015-2016 Missional Church Consultation Initiative (MCCI) (click to read letter). Wesley had been nominated by our District Superintendent, Rev. Barry Burns, and the Bishop prayed over all of the nominees to determine which congregations would be invited. The Board reviewed the invitation and sent representatives to learn more. After prayerful consideration, the Board voted in August 2015 to accept the invitation. A covenant was signed, and the process began. The Breakthrough Prayer Initiative was launched on November 8. This is led by Pastor Becky and a team of laity. Everyone is encouraged to pray for the church in one of these two ways: 1. Prayer Walking the building - Anytime the church is open, you can walk through the building and pray. Signs have been posted throughout to suggest themes for prayer. 2. Prayer Cards - Throughout the day and week, pray the following prayer that is available on prayer cards at church: God of Unlimited Possibilities, bless and guide Wesley UMC toward your preferred future. Send your Holy Spirit to break through and renew and revive your church, so that new life is unleashed. Empower everyone in this congregation to proclaim the good news of Jesus' life-changing love in our words and deeds. Transform and use even me boldly, without limits. Get me out of my comfort zone to reach and make new disciples of Jesus Christ and bless people everywhere. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Self-Study team has formed and is beginning its work. Pastor Jeff is coordinating this effort. The Pastors participate in monthly training sessions that will help to prepare the congregation for the MCCI process.
